Beatrice Nduta: inventory keeper at Ubuntu

"Who made my clothes?" It's such a simple question, but the answer has major implications for people around the world. What an honor it is to be able to know the names and faces of the people that make our clothes. I'm beyond thrilled to introduce you to Beatrice! Beatrice works for a brand called Ubuntu Made and has an amazing outlook on life despite overcoming great personal tragedy. 


Can you share a little bit about your personal background? 

I am a wife and a mother of 3 beautiful daughters. I lost a 3 year old daughter to meningitis in 2012.

What is your job description at Ubuntu?

I work as inventory and stock keeper in Ubuntu Made.

Describe a typical day in your life.

Wakes up at 5:30am, prepares the kids to school, makes breakfast for the family and leave for job at 7:30 to be in the office by 7:50 to 5:00pm.

What's your favorite part of your job?

I enjoy keeping everything on track and recording inventory n google sheets. It's been such a great skill to acquire.

What is your dream job?

Managing my own personal business!

When you aren't working, what sort of things do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy hiking with friends and exploring the world. I also like to have quiet moments meditating about life.

Has your time working at Ubuntu impacted you at all? 

Definitely! Ubuntu has helped me interact with different people from different backgrounds. Ubuntu has also changed my life economically from being a tenant to owning my own house which is something to celebrate! I have been able to acquire a lot of skills and training like sewing and computer literacy which supports me in inventory management.

For those who haven't been able to visit, what's something you wish they knew about Kenya?

For those who haven't visited Kenya, you are really missing out! I would highly advocate for visiting our country and experiencing our culture...  and don't forget to visit our factory to meet the mums who makes amazing products.

What is one thing you would like to say to the world?

That there is nothing impossible always trust in God and be determined. These things will help you scale every height in life.
