Sylvia: Producer at Sseko
"Who made my clothes?" It's such a simple question, but the answer has major implications for people around the world. What an honor it is to be able to know the names and faces of the people that make our clothes. I've been wearing my Sseko sandals for years and can't get enough of their amazing design and the brand's mission. I'm beyond thrilled to introduce you to Sylvia, a key player on Sseko's team in Uganda.
Can you share a little bit about your personal background?
I was born in family of two, my Mum and Dad separated and it wasn't easy for Mum.
What is your job description at Sseko?
I do procurement for the office for and bring in local products. I also help in packing and shipping.
Describe a typical day in your life.
Get up at round 5:30, take a shower, and get dressed. Before leaving, I say my prayers then head out for work.
What's your favorite part of your job?
Doing procurement and full filling my duties
What is your dream job?
I would love to be a business person managing women's bags.
When you aren't working, what sort of things do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy reading the bible and watching soccer.
Has your time working at Sseko impacted you at all?
Yes, I have learned so much... designing, procurement, and working as a team!
For those who haven't been able to visit Uganda, what's something you wish they knew about your country?
Our weather is the best!
