let's slow down a little, shall we?
through their eyes
I'm increasingly convinced that the idea of success is purely contextual. Through the eyes of some, your achievements are trivial. Through the eyes of others they are monumental.
Focus too much on the first perspective, and you'll doubt and downplay every step you take forward in life - missing the sweetest of your success altogether.
Focus too much on the second, and you'll contract an inflated sense of self-importance that will undoubtedly stunt your growth as a human.
I think the best solution is to keep yourself open to both kinds of people: those who see value in what you do, and those who don't. Allow yourself to be constantly encouraged but constantly humbled - both are essential for growth.
selflessly styled's success
... speaking of success. I want to say thank you, truly, thank you for making this such a fulfilling year of growth for Selflessly Styled.
It's easy for me to focus on all the things I haven't had time to do on this platform (or all the emails I have yet to answer). I want to take a moment to publicly celebrate the fact that YOU have kept this project going.
It seems like every time I catch myself feeling overwhelmed, burnt out and asking myself "Is this worth it?" I get a message from one of you sharing how Selflessly Styled has helped you in your personal journey towards ethical style.
Let me tell you, there is nothing that makes me feel more "successful" than the thought that this platform has encouraged one of you.
So thank you. Thank you for marching forward with me in an effort to make the world a more just and fair place through fashion.
I really enjoyed these two pieces that I discovered over the weekend and I hope they're inspiring to you too!
