Sunday Slowdown | Edition X | Eye Contact

let's slow down a little, shall we?
It was ten minutes before our party and a salsa shortage had me rushing to the grocery store. As I waited in line to purchase my massive jar of salsa verde, I noticed person after person in front of me standing in stony silence as the cashier punched buttons and handed them their receipts. They would mumble "Thanks" and rush off.
(Now don't get me wrong, I'm not judging those people. I've behaved the same way many times. It's incredibly easy to get tunnel-visioned on our tasks and forget that every single individual we interact with has value.)
I was determined to make eye contact with the cashier when it was my turn to check out. He looked up, a little surprised I think, when I said "Hi! What are your plans for Halloween weekend?" We chatted about Stranger Things 2 for a minute and then merrily bid one another adieu. My rush was interrupted with a moment of human interaction, and you know what? I didn't even lose any time. Eye contact and a smile have never made anyone late for anything.
selflessly styled this week
Nothing new happened on the blog (or even my instagram for that matter) this week because real life was a little busy. However, I have some fun collaborations in the works that I can't wait to share with you!
In the meantime, here's a picture of Jordan and I in our Halloween party costume; we went as the Total Solar Eclipse... which was awesome when we were standing next to each other, but when we were apart, I was just the girl with a moon on her head and Jordan was the guy in yellow tights with crazy hair.
